Why I am calling it
hasty, tasty is because these two phrases stuck me immediately when I visited Houston. This is my second visit here. I visited Houston first time two years ago. I was mesmerized by the speed of fast moving traffic on those huge serpentine layers of fly overs one above another.Fast moving traffic including cars, huge trucks, and motorbikes at great speed left me in awe. My eyes and mind took couple of days to adjust and register events.
No, no dear it was not a cultural shock, actually that I never felt. It was like a "speed shock". I felt at home there with every one and at every place, just like submerged or jells in.
My second visit to Houston was much smoother on that front, but there was great turmoil inside and outside. There was a constant flood threat warnings from weather dept. and there was emotional flood surging inside me. Luckily first flood came on 26th may without creating much havoc but second one (emotional) which was brimming inside me took quite a lot of time and energy to go. And it did subsided eventually by the sheer loving attitude and constant support of my son, to whom I was visiting.
Now why
"Tasty", because I was introduced to best cuisine here. I was served with very nice tasty french food with awesome cake in my honor. I think I can never thank them enough for this gesture.

metro - the life line of Houston |
Houston was like a base camp for me, as I visited quite a lot of places in and around it including restaurant, worth mentioning farmers market and outlet malls..
Hermann park needs a special mention as I do not even remember now that how many times I visited this place. They have big open auditorium here, where there is cultural events takes place on every weekend. This whole area has very nice view of high rising buildings of downtown. There are many Museums in its vicinity, including art, science and butterfly. There is plenty to see here. Houston zoo is also here.

This park is very good place to spend evening or for picnic. There is also statue of Gandhiji here inspiring many to stood by truth and non violence. Then there is Japanese park standing aloof in one corner cementing the value of faith.

There is place called "
Niko Niko", which served awesome
falafels and that too in huge servings, with lots of french fries. And of course nice Mexican food served with ice and loads of nachos, and one gets tempted to munch on them. You are bound to forget about the calories you are pumping inside you.

There is so much more to mention here. All that good Mexican food, very good Indian restaurants and last but not the least bakery items. One can really indulge non stop on pastries, and blue berries muffins. Our constant munching on nachos and chips, OMG. Dear O dear. I have said, enough but still there so much more to say, so I will be continuing this blog...
